There’s many ways
To make your first $10K, first $100K or first $1M online
You could offer 1:1 services
You could run an online course
You could run a group program
You could run a workshop
You could run a retreat
You could do affiliate marketing
Or you could do a combination of these.
You could also start a blog
Or a podcast
Or paid Facebook ads
Or online summits
Or conferences
Or guest blogging
Or an interview series
Or a FB group
Or a million other things
To market your service/program.
The thing is – how do decide what to start with?
How do you decide which one is likely to fetch you the best Return on your time and money?
Try and do them *all* together (or soon after one another, without mastering any), chances are you’ll be going back and forth too much and not really see a return on your investment.
The “Logical” way to decide
Is to stock of where you are currently, what you know how to do as of now, your current network, your current tribe
And get a hard look at where you want to get – the end results, the $$, the tribe, the lifestyle
And map out your possible options, then choose the path of least effort and max returns to get you from where you are, to where you want to be.
And in doing so, its important be aware of, to be cognizant of, where you’re starting out from. That determines your next step.
For example, if you want to be fashion designer to hot shots and sell 10K+ packages – but you don’t currently know anyone who makes even 50K a year… you’re going to have a tough time selling those 10K packages. So your first step will have to be making some inroads, some contacts, in those kinda circles where people are happy to pay 10K for a specialized service. And that may require quite a bit of work. It may require that you start by working with a slightly different target market, at a lower rate, and work your way up to the kinda circles where people happily pay 10K+.
And in “contrast” to the “Logical” way…. is the way of the “Heart”, which is as important and as powerful.
When you feel “called” to do something
It’s a pull you can’t ignore
You may not clearly see a path ahead
Or be able to connect the dots
On how the Way of the Heart
Will help you get from where you are
to where you want to get to
But you have to trust
You have to take a leap of faith
Because you know the call, and the journey of answering that call … are important.
Of the Logical Way and the Way of the Heart – neither is “better” that the other.
They are both very personal choices.
They both come with their own risks and rewards.
The Logical Way will often get you tangible results like $$ faster. While the Way of the Heart will likely feel more rewarding, more fulfilling.
Think of it like driving cross country from LA to NewYork.
You could choose to take the freeways. You’ll likely get there faster. You’ll drive at greater speeds, on straighter roads, with gas stations and rest stops and sign boards most of the way. It’ll be an “easier”, “straighter” drive.
Or you could choose to take the country roads, drive through open plains and hills and small towns; stopping to see the sights and smell the smelss and feel all the feels that the open road and the coutrny side bring. You will not have as many sign boards, or regular gas stations or fancy places to stay/eat. It won’t be a straight drive, you’ll meander all over teh place. You’ll likely take much longer than if you’d taken the freeways. But oh, you’re probably the kind who loves the journey and all the experiences it brings.
You could also do the freeways in some parts and old country roads in other parts.
IT’s ALL UP TO YOU.
A coach, an expert, a mentor, friends, family – they can all advise you, they can all make recommendations, they can all give guidance and feedback.
But once you hit the road – it’s YOUR decision, which paths to take, where to stop, how fast to drive, what to enjoy.
IT’S YOUR DECISION.
And each decision, comes with consequences.
What’s the path you’d rather choose? The Logical Way or the Way of the Heart? Why? What’s the consequences you’d rather enjoy?
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this in the comments below. please do share.
